La Porteñita is where H&H began. Open since 1991 on a property dating to 1930, this hilltop estancia has hosted more returning hunters than any other H&H lodge: a true working estancia, not a resort built to look like one.

A Typical Day at La Porteñita — From First Light to the Fire Pit

Morning · Breakfast & Field Departure by 8:00 a.m.
Breakfast at the lodge, field departure at 8 AM, 15 to 50 minutes in luxury vans with AC, refreshments, and two-way radios. Each hunter gets their own dedicated bird boy for the day.

Midday · Argentine Asado in the Field — Every Day
Shooting continues until midday, when the group gathers under shade for a traditional Argentine asado. An optional siesta follows; the afternoon session runs until around 6 PM.

Evening · Cocktails, Massage, Dinner & the Fire
Back at the lodge, drinks and hors d'oeuvres are waiting. Massages available. Chef Daniel's gourmet dinners combine Argentine beef with formal flair, then the fire pit becomes the group's gathering point.

A Historic Colonial Lodge — Comfort, Character & Hilltop Views
Built in 1930 by the Peralta Ramos family as a private summer estate, La Porteñita retains its original colonial furniture and character, renovated to peak condition.
The main living and dining areas flow together around a full bar, opening onto porches with hill views. A recessed fire pit just off the entrance is the after-dinner spot. Laundry and boot cleaning included.

03 What months can I dove hunt at La Porteñita?
La Porteñita offers excellent dove shooting from February through October — the widest seasonal window of any H&H lodge. Peak months are March through August. H&H plants crops exclusively for doves using no-till methods and rotates fields throughout the season, maintaining quality well outside the traditional peak period.

Up to 16 hunters across 9 rooms — 6 in the main colonial house and 3 in a separate private villa. The lodge is reserved exclusively for one group at a time. No shared spaces with other parties.
