Córdoba is known for high-volume dove shooting, but beyond the Sierras lies a different category of wingshooting entirely, and Escondido is built around it. The Badra family has run pigeon hunting here for over 20 years, knowing every flyway, roost, and migration pattern.
Pigeon hunting is technically distinct from dove: hunters shoot from field blinds as large birds drop onto decoys set by your bird boy. The concealment, decoying, and sheer size of the birds make for South America's most exciting wingshooting, with 200 birds allowed per hunter per day.
Pigeon season runs from late March through early August. Peak months (May, June, July) fill well in advance.
Escondido's dove hunting is classic Córdoba high-volume, no-limit, but with far less hunting pressure than areas east of the Sierras. Peanut, sunflower, and sorghum fields around Villa Dolores hold resident doves year-round, peaking March–August. Most hunters shoot two to three cases a day.
Wake-up at 7, breakfast at the lodge, field departure around 8. Drives run 20–45 minutes in air-conditioned vans. Each hunter gets their own dedicated bird boy for the day.
Lunch is often in the field: a full Argentine asado under shade near the shooting grounds, with hammocks for those resting before the afternoon session. Some days, the group returns to the lodge instead.
Back at the lodge, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres are waiting. Gourmet dinners combine European technique with Argentine cuisine and grass-fed beef, then a nightcap by the fireplace or at the bar.

The main living area centers on a wood-burning fireplace and a private bar. The dining room's floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the pool and gardens. Outdoors: heated pool, exterior Jacuzzi, and a sun deck for afternoon recovery.
Each of Escondido's eight rooms has a private en-suite, queen or twin beds, and gear storage. Four rooms are newly built; the lodge was fully renovated in 2018. Up to 16 hunters, reserved exclusively for one group.
Escondido is surrounded by mature gardens and native woodland. The sun deck, poolside terraces, and garden paths ease the transition from the field to the evening, in a mild, dry climate with clear skies.
Escondido is 3h30 from Córdoba by mountain road, or 30 minutes by Feeling Air charter. Fly Buenos Aires–Córdoba, then hop the charter to Villa Dolores, minutes from the lodge.

Yes — Escondido is the only H&H lodge that offers both Eared Dove and pigeon hunting. Dove is available year-round. Pigeon season runs from the last week of March through the first week of August, when migrating birds concentrate in the irrigated fields of western Córdoba.

Approximately 2 hours 45 minutes by ground via the Altas Cumbres mountain route, or about 30 minutes via the H&H Grand Caravan private charter from Córdoba Airport. Villa Dolores Airport is also available for domestic or private flights, with a 30-minute ground transfer to the lodge.
